A memorable day for our clients, their families, and us.

Pete Johnson and Anders Erickson walked out of the Lino Lakes and Moose Lake prisons with their clients last week after their clients’ murder convictions were vacated.

Noah Peterson and his family walked away from the Lino Lakes prison after he was released from prison.

Noah Peterson and Alec Streit were codefendants convicted of aiding and abetting felony murder in 2017.

Pete Johnson represented Mr. Peterson and Anders Erickson represented Mr. Streit in their attempts to have their aiding and abetting felony murder convictions vacated under the new aiding and abetting felony murder law that the Legislature enacted in 2023.

On Thursday, April 11th, a Hennepin County district court judge granted Pete’s petition to vacate Mr. Peterson’s murder conviction and granted Anders’s petition to vacate Mr. Streit’s murder conviction.  Mr. Peterson and Mr. Streit were then sentenced on the underlying felony offenses with credit for the over six years they each spent in prison.

Later that same day, Mr. Peterson walked out of the Lino Lakes prison and Mr. Streit walked out of the Moose Lake prison as free men and reunited with their families.

Alec Streit and his family after and he was released from the Moose Lake prison.

It was quite the experience for both Pete and Anders and provided a great reminder of the effect incarceration has on not only the individuals in prison but also on the families waiting outside the prison doors.
